What is the Front-Page?

The front-page is a page in a newspaper that contains the biggest news stories of the day, or it may tease other interesting articles that are included elsewhere in the edition. It is also a term used to refer to an article or picture appearing on the top-most page of a website.

Three Jane Does, who were sex trafficked as minors, sued Backpage in federal court for facilitating sex trafficking, alleging that their traffickers used the website to post ads offering them for sex. The district court ruled against them, but the First Circuit Court of Appeals reversed that ruling in August 2013. In doing so, the court ruled that Backpage’s actions were “traditional publisher functions” regarding third-party content and therefore shielded by CDA Section 230.
